The event is a partnership between Commissioner Maxwell-Williams and the Broward County Department of Health. Staff Recommendation Background:
Commissioner Karlene Maxwell-Williams, in partnership with the Broward County Department of Health, seeks to host a Mobile Mammogram Event to provide free or low-cost breast cancer screening and related medical services to uninsured women in the City and Broward County. The proposed event is scheduled to take place on May 30, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The event will serve as an important community outreach initiative aimed at early detection and improved health outcomes. The City Commission finds that it is in the best interest of the City to support this initiative by providing access to the Vincent Torres Memorial Park as the event location and finds that authorizing the use of the City’s name and official logo on promotional materials for the Mobile Mammogram Event serves a valid public purpose by supporting access to preventative healthcare services and enhancing regional partnerships.
