CITY OF LAUDERDALE LAKES Agenda Cover Page Fiscal Impact: Contract Requirement: Title DISCUSSION REGARDING PLANNING OF THE NEW FIRE STATION Summary This is a continued discussion regarding completion of the planning phase for the new fire station. Staff Recommendation Background:
In December 2024, City Commission awarded a contract in an amount not to exceed $67,745 to CPZ Architects, Inc. to provide planning services for the new fire station project. This project is partially funded by the State of Florida Department of Environmental Protection through the Florida Resilient grant program. The total grant amount is in the amount of $3,000,000 which requires a city matching fund of $3,000,000.
Planning of the new fire station was centered around the following parameters:
- Long term emergency response needs
- Firefighters future needs
- Functional requirements
- Long term operational efficiency
- Zoning and compatibility
As a result, the consultant provided 3 options for consideration. Staff also investigated the possibility of utilizing the CRA owned property located on NW 36th Street as an alternative site.
Upon completion of this phase, CPZ Architects, Inc. will provide a full-service proposal to complete the design, permitting, and construction engineering services.
