Staff Recommendation Background:
Pursuant to Resolution 2023-049 and Resolution 2023-087, The City Commission appointed City Manager Treasa Brown Stubbs as its city manager (“Former City Manager”) for an indefinite term effective and commencing June 27, 2023. The City Manager has tendered her voluntary resignation of the city manager position with the City, effective March 18, 2025, and the City Commission, thereafter, accepted such resignation and discharge, without cause. On March 18, 2025, in accordance with Article IV., Division 3, Sec. 2-213 of the Lauderdale Lakes Code of Ordinances, designated Venice Howard, MMC, then serving as the City Clerk, as Acting City Manager to temporarily execute the functions of the City Manager during the interim period and until such time as the City Commission appoints a permanent City Manager. The City Commission after determining it to be in the best interest of the City to conduct a comprehensive recruitment process to search for and appoint the most appropriate professional to serve in the position of City Manager on a permanent basis, retained MGT Impact Solutions, LLC (“MGT”), an executive search firm, to conduct a professional executive recruitment process, including reviewing applications, evaluating the qualifications of applicants, and recommending the most qualified candidates to the City Commission for further consideration. On June 22, 2026, after completing its review, which included receiving and considering the recommendations from a five-person ad-hoc community-based Evaluation Committee appointed by the City Commission, who then recommended six (6) candidates for interviews by the City Commission and identified four (4) additional applicants for the City Commission's review and consideration, MGT further recommended that the City Commission conduct interviews of those candidates deemed most qualified by the City Commission.
